1. Who or what owns the medium your using?
+ There is no specific person that owns the television in general, but there are different media companies that own the channels. For example:

2. What is the purpose of television for the owners/producers and for the target audiences?
+ The purpose of television is mainly for entertainment and for information. 
For owners and producers, the purpose of television is for the advertising. It is the only way that networks make any money and stay in business. 
For watchers in their target audience, it is either for entertainment or to inform. Channels like the History Channel and National Geographic are obviously to teach and inform viewers about world problems, but for shows on MTV and Disney Channel is purely for entertainment. 

3. What is the television designed to do?
+ The above answer sums this up, its to inform and entertain.

4. What is the content of the television, and where does comes from?
+ Television shows and movies play on tv. There are different channels and programmes that view everyday. There are shows like the News that inform viewers about world problems, there are channels that are for children only, channels for adult entertainment, programmes to inform about animals, crimes ect, and there are comedy that are easy to watch. Generally, shows that view past 8.30pm are classed as adult shows.
There are different television networks that broadcast shows on to tv. In New Zealand there is SKY that most New Zealanders have. This has over 100 channels that are broadcasted to customers that pay to subscribe. 

5. How does advertising relate to the content of the medium and to the target audiences who consume it?
Usually, the advertising on the tv relates to what demographic is watching it. For example, after school around 3.00 is when school kids come home at watch. So the advertising would be for toys, childrens concerts and food that children want to consume. 

 
I think that my media consumption is very high. I often use the internet, mostly everyday and I am actively involved in watching tv and l listen to the radio everyday. Facebook and internet banking is the main reason why I use the internet. Since I have a job now, I have to keep track on how much I'm spending and saving. I go on facebook everyday to catch up with friends, organise outings and to keep in touch with relatives. Especially after the earthquake, facebook has been a centre point for communication to see relations are alright.
Most days I watch tv when im bored. Most tv programmes that are suited to my demographic are shows like gossip girl, glee, modern family, two and a half men and home and away. All of these shows are suitable for girls aged 14-18 mostly and are a little bit more mature than shows like on the disney channel. 

My radio usage is quite high as well, on the days I work I listen to the Edge up to 10 hours. Most of this I am not paying attention to it 100%,but the songs are easy to keep listening to. The Edge is most suited to teenages because of the content in it and the genre of most of the songs. 

Overall, my media usage is higher than most, I watch tv, go on the internet and social networking sites, and listen to the radio for hours on end. My demographic is that of a teenage girl, and certain shows are pointed at my demographic, I tend to watch these shows a lot.
