The costuming in the kick as trailer is crucial because it not only depicts the genre of the film, but attracts target audiences to watch the movie. When the main protagonist is first introduced, he is wearing plain clothes and is inconspicuous. Then, when the stripy yellow and green jumpsuit appears, it is obvious to the audience the genre and mood of the film. The superhero costume that 'Kickass' wears is a full length jumpsuit that has yellow pinstripes and a rectangle cut out where his eyes are. The colour of the suit is interesting because usually superheroes in comic books or other movies have the dominant colour of red, but this outfit is green which connects to the themes in the movie shown in the trailer based on an every day boy, dressing up to save the world. This superhero has no powers or special features so of course his costume has to be different from the others. Also, the costuming is important because there has to be a divide between the main character's every day life and his night (super hero) life. This costume makes that diversion come true not just in his mind, but in with his physical features too. The jumpsuit also helps to mask his own geeky everyday persona and cover his personality up with a aerodynamic super suit. The voice over or dialogue in the trailer suggests that the main character is not popular in school and is unable to act tough or stand up to others, but the costume allows him to be something that he is not which inspires audiences to stand up for what the really believe and this is surely one of the themes in the plot. The costume of the protagonist "Kickass" helps the audience understand which genre the movie is in and to link the idea of covering up identity to show who you truly are in the end. Costuming is an effective way of getting the main themes across in the movie and suggest the character's emotions and personality.
